VISIT THE LAGOON
The Las Ilusiones Lagoon is located in the Tomas Garrido Canabal Park. Walk along the pedestrian boardwalk to the edge of the lagoon. Enjoy the sound of the birds that permanently nest or arrive for the winter season. Continue on to the Museo Elevado de Villahermosa (MUSEVI) next to the lagoon and take a break on the pedestrian bridge.
VISIT THE OLMEC AND MAYAN CULTURE RESEARCH CENTER (CICOM)
This is where the Carlos Pellicer Camara Regional Museum of Anthropology is located, and displays almost 800 pieces that show the pre-Hispanic past of the region, and the ties that connected these two ancient cultures.
ENJOY REGIONAL GASTRONOMY
Try chaya soup, an exotic pejelagarto, rice with seafood, some plantains stuffed with meat or cheese, yucca bread or another delicacy. The water based hot chocolate drink was invented in this land and according to its traditions, it was drank by the gods. Today it is part of the culinary tradition across the country.
