Villa del Carbon, “Pueblo Magico” (Magic Town) is a beautiful woodsy town in Mexico. The town, with its cool weather, allows visitors to spend all day outdoors exploring its beauty.
A VISIT TO VIRGEN DE LA PEÑA
Get warm with a wool sweater bought at the portals and start your day with a glass of delicious pinole atole and start your tour at the downtown. In Plaza Hidalgo, the Church of the Virgen de la Peña of France greets you with tall, limestone towers and a Classical facade. Inside, you can see the image of the Virgin with her brown skin face; you can ask for a guided tour of the church and town to learn about its history.
EAT AT THE VILLA DEL CARBON PORTALS
In Plaza Hidalgo, you will find many of the culinary delights that Villa del Carbon is famous for. You can sample delicious gorditas de chicharron with blue corn or barbecue tacos while you enjoy the relaxing atmosphere in the town. Listen to the travelling musicians who walk through the town playing music - you can even ask them to serenade you with some traditional songs.
VISIT THE HOUSE OF CULTURE
Visiting the Doctor Jimenez Cantu House of Culture takes you back in time. The house transports you to a 19th Century movie; enjoy a tour of the beautiful building, and then relax by the beautiful fountain inside the property. Afterwards, visit the Regional Museum and take a tour through its rooms and admire the archaeological findings from the Otomi culture.
