ADMIRE A BUILDING OF RICH HISTORY AND UNIQUE MYSTICISM
Visit the Temple of San Pablo Apostle and be surprised to discover that it was built in the courtyard of a Zapoteca ceremonial center during the 16th century. Take a moment to imagine the grandeur of the palaces that were demolished in order to extract the material used to build the church. Admire its solemn and simple baroque altarpieces.
WALK THE STREETS AND GET TO KNOW THE TOWN’S HISTORY
Continue your walk through the streets and admire the rustic viceregal houses, many of which are about 200 years old. Once you are downtown, turn onto Benito Juarez Street and admire the facade of the Frissel Museum, a 19th century neoclassical building that housed the largest collection of Zapoteca culture objects. The wooden columns of the front corridor have become the hallmark of the town's historical image. The museum has been closed since 1995, but is expected to be reopened soon.
