The official name is “Estados Unidos Mexicanos” in accordance with the provisions of the 1917 Constitution. But the country is known as Mexico, a word whose origin comes from the “Nahuatl” words “metztli”, which means moon; “xictli”, navel or center, which translates as the navel of the moon.
