ECOTOURISM

 

In Tepoztlan you?ll find an ecological reserve where you can enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking. During the hike you?ll notice the various microclimates that allow endemic flora and fauna to flourish.

 

Parque Nacional El Tepozteco (Tepozteco National Park) ? Located in Tepoztlan, 21 km (13 mi) northeast of Cuernavaca. In this 24,000-hectare (59,280-acre) protected area you?ll find the Cerro del Tepozteco, where you can do various sporting and cultural activities. Here you can hike among various ecosystems consisting of deciduous forests and lowland jungles. Some 1,500 plant varieties and 500 animal species inhabit the park, including mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians and butterflies.
