GASTRONOMY
The city of Taxco offers a wide variety of
dishes that are prepared with ingredients
of indigenous origin, such as the use of ground
corn in bean, squash and plum
tamales. Here you also can try fiambre, an original combination of cold cuts, fruit
and vegetables bathed in olive oil and apple cider vinegar.
A local favorite is the Guerrero-style pozole, a hominy soup with pork
or chicken. You can also indulge
in cecina (salted meat),
barbacoa de chivo (goat), pan de muertos (sweet bread) and jumiles (grasshopper-like insects) prepared
in a sauce with green
chili, tomato and garlic.
