One of the most popular ecotourism activities in Riviera Nayarit is nature observing, as it allows you to become familiar with the region?s wide variety of plant and animal species.

Punta Mita ? Located on the northern end of the Banderas Bay, more than 40 km (25 mi) north of the Puerto Vallarta airport. This is one of the best spots to observe marine fauna and bird species, such as pelicans, seagulls and hawks. From November through April you can witness arrivals of the humpback whale.

Cruz de Huanacaxtle ? Located 15 minutes from Riviera Nayarit, 30 km (19 mi) north of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. This area is the nesting ground of the Olive Ridley sea turtle, an endangered species. It?s also a very special place to observe birds and marine fauna.
