Mexico Ready for 33rd edition of the Tourist Tianguis

 

 

• 21,000 appointments of businesses closed to the first fortnight of March

• Participation of members of the Mayan World: Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador give internationalization

 

 

Mexico City, April 1ST 2008. - With a number of 21.000 business appointments closed until the first two weeks of March, 13% more than in 2007, the Mexico Tourism Board estimates that the 33rd Edition of the Tourist Tianguis to be celebrated from the 13 to the 16 of April in Acapulco International Center, in the port of Guerrero, will obtain the programmed goals.

 

With the presence of more than 500 companies reunited in 430 business suites and the participation of at least one thousand buyers of 28 countries, 57% international and 43% of national origin, the most important fair in matter of tourism in Mexico, look forward to sell and to promote it, as tourist destiny of first order.

 

Still waiting that these numbers will increase, since the experience of the 32 previous editions, it is in these last two previous weeks to the event when an important registry occurs.

 

In this occasion as an opportunity to present the new developments which Acapulco has, the opening of the event headed by the governor of Guerrero, Zeferino Torreblanca Galindo, the secretary of Tourism, Rodolfo Elizondo Torres and the general director of the CPTM, Oscar Fitch Gómez, will be celebrated in the Forum Mundo Imperial, on April 13TH at 18 hours, in the Zona Diamante of the port.

 

After this, in denominated the Corredor Tianguis a "Olores y Sabores de México" cocktail will be offered, presenting Mexican common drinks in the world like mezcal, tequila, wines and beer, as well as intercourses of 11 different regions from the country, in order to emphasize another one of the attributes that Mexico has and is proud of: its gastronomy. Effort in which associations in each branch participates with the National Industry Camera Restaurants and Seasoning Foods (CANIRAC).

 

 "We want to transmit to the international buyers, the quality and diversity of the Mexican drinks that are positioned in the world and of which we felt proud", assured Artemio Santos, general assistant director of Operation of the CPTM and coordinator of this Tourist Tianguis edition.

 

Consolidating its position as the Latin American most important tourist launching site, in this occasion the Tianguis takes an international character having as guests in a special pavilion the countries that integrate the Mayan World: Belize, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, with the purpose of follow promotional actions conducted in different international fairs.

 

As every year, the Tourist Tianguis counts with the participation of emergent countries, nations that could be in medium and long term important for Mexico. For this emission there will be two participants: China as a market which we have already enter and where we are positioning and Russia where we have interesting indicators for our market

 

During the event several conferences and discussion forums of crucial subjects for the tourist strategies in Mexico and the region will be dictated, in which emphasize the titled "Measurement System of Excellence of Tourist Destinations" by André Vallerand, president of the  Tourist Destination World Center of the OMT, as well as, the forum “North American Market Tendencies”, directed by the secretary Elizondo and moderated by the journalist Javier Solórzano, where members from the statistical branch of the industry of meetings, marketing, tour operators, and others, will participate.

 

 

For this edition, the press coverage waited for the most important tourist fair of Mexico and the one that is considered internationally in seventh place is quite big, with a registration of at least 102 foreign journalists, 428 nationals and a little more than 130 locals.
