Mexicana, the first airline established in Mexico and the country's largest international
airline, today announced a partnership with the AIR MILES Reward Program, Canada’s
largest coalition loyalty program, as a travel rewards supplier. AIR MILES collectors can now redeem their
reward miles for Mexicana flights anywhere the airline flies around the
world.
Partnering with the AIR MILES
Reward Program helps consolidate Mexicana as the Mexican airline with the
strongest presence in Canada
which operates 36 flights a week to and from major cities like Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. Launched in
1992, the AIR MILES Reward Program currently has more than 10 million active
Collector accounts across the country, representing approximately two-thirds
of all Canadian households.
"Joining this popular program will strengthen our
commercial ties with Canada,"
said Mexicana Vice President Sales, USA
and Canada,
Jorge Goytortua. "Since 1996, we have held on to
our position as the Mexican airline with the strongest presence in the region
and are constantly searching for new ways to increase the flow of tourists
between both countries."
According to official figures, Mexicana flew over 318,000
passengers between Mexico
and Canada
in 2008 and has registered approximately 214,000 passengers through September
of this year. The number of passengers traveling these routes is expected to
increase 30% over the next five years as a result of the AIR MILES
partnership.
"We are thrilled to welcome Mexicana to our extensive
travel rewards portfolio," said Jill Morison,
Vice President Rewards, AIR MILES Reward Program.
"The addition of Mexicana to our growing list of airline partners further
exemplifies our commitment to expand the wide choice of reward redemptions
available for our Collectors."
Mexicana’s decision to partner
with the AIR MILES Reward Program confirms
its commitment to offering its passengers unparalleled services and
functional, added-value solutions. Since September 1, 2009, AIR MILES
Collectors have been able to participate in special promotions for travel
with Mexicana and can redeem their reward miles for flights operated by
Mexicana and its domestic subsidiaries, MexicanaClick
and MexicanaLink.
