RIVIERA NAYARIT HOSTS THE
"RIVIERA
NAYARIT CLASSIC"
Montreal, September 21st,
2009
Celebrating Riviera
Nayarit as an up-and-coming golf destination, the Canadian Professional Golf
Tour selects the Jack Nicklaus-designed Punta Mita Pacifico course for
tournament.
Riviera Nayarit further establishes itself as a top
destination for golf by hosting the Riviera Nayarit Classic from September 28th
- October 4th, 2009. Sponsored by the Canadian Professional
Golf Tour group (CANTOUR), Riviera Nayarit will welcome golf professionals to
its championship fairways vying for the USD $125,000 first place prize.
Home to six championship golf courses, designed by golf
legends Jack Nicklaus, Robert Van Hagge, Jim Lipe, Percy Clifford and Greg
Norman, Riviera Nayarit attracts players from around the world recognizing
the challenge and high quality of the courses.
The Riviera Nayarit Classic will be played at the Punta
Mita Golf Club on one of the most exclusive golf courses in the world - the
Jack Nicklaus-designed Punta Mita Pacifico - well known for its hole 3-b,
nicknamed Tail of the Whale. It's the only natural ocean island green in the
world and offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.
The tournament will showcase the 18 holes stretching over 7,035 yards, in which
golfers are treated to both ocean views and the Bay of Banderas.
Five holes also play along the water.
A seamless marriage of golf and luxury, the Punta Mita
Golf Club is located in the private, enclosed community of Punta Mita that
includes spectacular homes as well as the Four Seasons Punta Mita, the
recently opened St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and two Jack Nicklaus-designed
courses.
The Canadian Professional Golf Tour is a non-profit
organization that represents the best young players in more than 15 countries
around the world that come together to play this North American circuit every
year. For more than 20 years, CANTOUR has helped launch the careers of golf
greats including Mike Weir, Chris DiMarco, Stuart Appleby and Michael
Campbell. CANTOUR alumni have won four Golf Major Championships and 54
victories on the PGA Tour. Presently, there are players in CANTOUR that
are anticipated to follow suit.
This tournament will also be covered and broadcasted by
the Golf Channel, showing the breathtaking landscape and beauty of both the
Punta Mita Pacifico course and the Punta Mita Golf Club's brand new, second
Jack Nicklaus-designed course, Punta Mita Bahia.
