The Tourism Secretary of Mexico City and Veracruz, as well as the National Institute of Anthropology and History are now offering MP3 audio guides to visit the best places, monuments and museums of these regions.

 

You want to know more about certain places in Mexico? now you can download these podcasts for free on their websites and enjoy a vast guide collection to easily discover the cultural richness and millenary history of this wonderful country.

 

They did it! How many times have you cursed your travel guide for taking up too much space in your bag? How many times have you gotten lost in a jungle of monuments or in a city because you didn?t have your travel guide?

 

It is now possible to download for free your guides for Mexico City and Veracruz, as well as guides for independent museums of the National Institute of Anthropology and History. These audio guides will enable you to discover the most popular sites at your own pace, including museums and villages.

 

As of now, you will also be able to draw your own expeditions! Offices of Mexico city and Veracruz are already offering this service. Through their Web site, you can download interactive files for free, including touristic routes!

 

Discover Mexico with your iPod

 

On the Tourism Secretary of Mexico City?s website, travelers can download for free three itineraries of the country?s capital:  Reforma (Park of Chapultepec), Zócalo (Cathedral of Mexico City, Templo Mayor) and Alameda (Park). These three audio guides include information on buildings, monuments, museums and emblematic sites, focusing on their historical and architectural aspects.

In a section dedicated to museums, audio guides comment main works of art and give short descriptions of historical events.

 

Practical aspects : 

The site has three audio guide versions: computer, iPod and mobile phone! It is up to you to choose.

Travel light and discover Veracruz?s archaeology

 

On its website, the Tourism Secretary of Veracruz  offers audio guides on the regional history and provides guides that fully describe the archaeological districts of Tajin and Quiahuixtlan, which can all be downloaded for free or sent by SMS to you phone cell.

 

Practical aspect : 

Each narrative segment includes 6 files which are categorized according to the building?s name and each file lasts 90 seconds.

Know everything on history and anthropology 

 

The National Institute of Anthropology and History provides audio guides on 10 archaeological sites in the country, in which it describes their importance, as well as the main surrounding buildings. 

 

Practical aspect:

Travellers can use audio guides in the following archaeological sites: Xochicalco, Morelos ; Edzna, Campeche ; Plazuelas, Guanajuato ; Tzintzuntzan, Michoacán ; Monte Albán, Oaxaca ; Chiapa de Cordzo, Chiapas ; Cholula ; Puebla ; Dzibichaltun, Yucatán ; El Cerrito, Querétaro and Calixtlahuaca, State of Mexico.

Apart from museums, architectural sites in Teotihuacán, State of Mexico and La Quemada, Zacatecas will also be offered through their website.
