The Mexico Tourism Board is officially launching its Canadian recovery campaign in an effort to reactivate the tourism industry. The first part of the two-phase multimedia campaign will start airing next week across television stations throughout Canada. This campaign will come in combination with several Mexican programs introduced by Tour operators and airline companies.

The first phase of the two parts multimedia campaign titled, "Welcome back" reminds Canadians of those magical moments that bond them to Mexico. The second phase, a campaign titled "Mexico-It?s Time To Go", will entice travelers with amazing deals and packages that will be difficult to resist.

The exciting new campaign?s main message to travelers is to welcome them back and remind them that the Magic of Mexico hasn?t changed. This campaign will be carried out in two phases, beginning now through the winter season.

"Mexico and its tourism sector have proven again, that we are resilient to crisis. Not only are we back up, running and receiving tourists every day, but we are showing the world that this administration represents responsibility - and this is what this campaign conveys, and its? what it?s message is built upon" said Oscar Fitch, CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board.

"Mexico is letting the world know that we are ready to welcome back travelers and continue to offer the beauty, culture, history, gastronomy, and pristine beaches our country is known for-and of course; all within great proximity and at a great value" added Fitch.

The campaign will focus on six major markets in Canada and 12 markets in the United States which combined represent over 80% of Mexico?s international tourists. Campaigns for Europe, Asia and Latin America are also planned for a later date. Canadian tourists travel to Mexico in records number last year of 1,144,650 visitors to Mexico, an increase of 191,840 travelers over the previous year, 2007.

According to the Regional Director of the MTB in Canada, Alfonso Sumano, ??Mexico is ready to go and Canadians are always welcome. Furthermore, the value is outstanding in Mexico and the country boasts a myriad of products very valuable for Canadians.??

These affirmations were confirmed by Flemming Friisdahl, VP Sales Thomas Cook; Ninio Montagnese, Senior Sales Director Air Canada Vacations, Lawrence Elliott, Sunwing Vice-President, Janine Chapman, Director Marketing and ebusiness Signature Vacation, John Pease, Director of Sales Westjet during an industry forum organized yesterday by Open Jaw. The MTB has confirmed joint marketing efforts with all of its partners to relaunch the Mexico product, including Air Transat and Total Vacations as well.
