MEXICAN CHEF VICENTE ETCHEGARAY IN SAN ANTONIO’S NEW WORLD WINE & FOOD FESTIVAL

 BON APPETITE!

Houston, TX November 3rd 2009 – The delights of Mexican cuisine will come alive in San Antonio, when the Mexico Tourism Board participates in the “San Antonio New World Wine & Food Festival” from November 10th to November 15th 2009. The Mexico Tourism Board has invited one of Mexico’s many renowned chef, Vicente Etchegaray. Residents of the area will have the opportunity to experience and enjoy Mexico’s delightful cuisine with a variety of demonstrations, conferences and wine tasting

Mexico is one of the most important gastronomic mecca’s in Latin America and is home to some of the world’s most unique and exquisite ingredients with dishes that are recognized all over the world. From local ingredients such as “epazote” to the popular “chile”, Mexico's culinary diversity is endless.

On November 13th, Chef Etchegaray will offer demonstrations and prepare an exquisite menu at “The Best of Mexico” event being held at The Vault in San Antonio. This special event will give attendees the opportunity to sample some of his best offerings on famous Mexican delicacies.

“We are delighted to participate for the second time at the San Antonio New World Wine & Food Festival with special guest, Chef Vicente Etchegaray- fantastic culinary expert joining us from Mexico City. This journey through travel destinations, culture and gastronomy will be a benchmark for Mexico’s presence within the US. We are confident that this experience will allow food enthusiasts to have a better perspective of what Mexican gastronomy means to our culture”, said Martin Gonzalez, Director of the Mexico Tourism Board in Houston.

Vicente Etchegaray is an acclaimed chef, who launched his career in Paris, France.  After few years of intense study and practice in the land of fine cuisine, he returned to his home of Mexico to continue evolving his passion of mixing a variety of flavors and cultures and produce a diverse and unique touch to original dishes. Since 1997, he runs the immensely popular Mexico City restaurant Bakea, which has been named the best restaurant in Mexico by Travel + Leisure Magazine. With only fifteen tables, an internationally award winning menu mixed with Basque, French and Mexican influences, Bakea is unarguably one of the best—if not the best—restaurants in the city.
