MEXICO IN THE SKY
AT THE 2009 ALBUQUERQUE
INTERNATIONAL BALLOON FIESTA
Houston, TX,
October 6th, 2009 -- Mexico
is flying high into the sky this fall season for the second time as the Mexico
Tourism Board (MTB) participates in the 38th Annual Albuquerque
International Balloon Fiesta, the most photographed event on earth, which is
taking place from October 3rd through October 11th, 2008
in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is the largest annual event
in all of North America, and the largest hot
air balloon show in the planet. The festival paints the clear blue sky of
the fall season with more than 700 colorful balloons from all over the world,
which are expected to attract more than 800,000 national as well as
international visitors and more than 800 media representatives from
everywhere.
“This is a great way to expose Mexico’s brand to thousands of people and
at the same time help build a positive attitude towards Mexico and its destinations through one of the
most important festivals in the US,”
says Martin Gonzalez, Director of the MTB for Southern US & Colorado.
Mexico’s participation
consists of a hot air balloon, with the MEXICO brand logo, which will
participate in the Mass Ascensions and the evening balloon glows. There
is also a booth where guests are able to receive information about the many
attractions and activities that Mexico
has to offer such as family vacation, the great outdoors, its rich culture, beaches,
luxury travel and much more. The state of Chihuahua will also be present in the event,
to promote their diverse tourism offers.
Mexico will also be participating
in the 8th edition of The Leon International Balloon Festival
that has been placed as the biggest and most important hot air balloon event in
Latin America with 100 Balloons. The IBF
received around 250,000 visitors on the 2008 edition and expects 300,000 this
year. This event will occur from November 13th to the 16th,
at the Metropolitan Park of Leon City.
The 2009 edition of the IBF is inspired on the 50’s, one of the
most influential and significant decades in history, in which youth started a
whole new revolution and stood against traditional social standards and saw the
birth of a rather relevant movement, ROCK’N ROLL.
In addition to this, the 2009 IBF will have 60 hours of side show
attractions, featuring concerts, contests, the IBF 2009 Children’s Soccer
Cup, and lot more!
The Mexico Tourism Board (MTB) brings together the resources
of federal and state governments, municipalities and private companies to
promote Mexico’s
tourism attractions and destinations internationally. Created in 1999, the
MTB is Mexico’s
tourism promotion agency, and its participants include
members of both the private and
public sectors. The MTB has offices throughout
North America, Europe, Japan and Latin America.
