“We hope that this fantastic exhibition will peak the interest of
cultural travelers and lure them to visit Guanajuato, a state filled with
Cultural Heritage colonial architecture and many wonders” said Rodrigo
Esponda, Director of the Mexico Tourism Board for the Midwest.
The Consulate
of Mexico in Detroit
has been instrumental in helping bring the exhibition to the city. “This
is an incredible opportunity to enjoy the exhibition, for the first time ever
out of Mexico, and for
people to learn more about the Mexican culture and the profound respect towards
the dead,” said Vicente Sanchez, Consul of Mexico in Detroit.
These
accidental mummies were naturally mummified in their tombs, due to the warm
climate of the area, which dried the bodies leaving them intact. Thanks
to facial reconstructions by forensic artists, we are able to get an insight
into their lives.
Visitors of
their exhibit will receive information on Mexico and Guanajuato. Promotional giveaways will also be
offered.
