Miami, August 24th,
2009-Mexico brings the authentic and exquisite “jarocho”
culture of the state of Veracruz

festival, “A Taste of Veracruz.” Regional succulent dishes from
this State in the Gulf of Mexico will be

culinary guide “Así se Come en Veracruz” (This is how you eat in
Veracruz). The book is comprehensive research of a team of anthropologists
- specialized in pre-Hispanic Huasteca, Totonaca, and Olmec cultures
- a sociologist and three gourmet experts to compile the most traditional and
representative dishes of the different regions of the state; a culinary
journey of dishes that speak of ancient customs, fruits, savors and spices in
those different regions.
“It is an honor to present the first gastronomy guide of Veracruz here in Miami,
and to promote this rich destination through its food,” explained Teresa
Villarreal, Director of the Mexico Tourism Board’s office in Miami. “The book
provides interesting tourism tips to help travelers decide where to go
according to their food interests,” added Villareal.
Throughout the five days of the festival, La Terraza Cafe & Bar at the JW Marriott Miami Hotel will
offer a variety of the specialties in the Guide, personally prepared by Chef
Burela and his team. Among some of the dishes the visitors can enjoy
while dinning in a typical atmosphere of a quaint Veracruzano eatery
are: chicken tlatonile in chicatana sauce (made out of chicatana
ants), octopus in jalapeno cream and shrimps conquest of Veracruz.
