Mexico City, Mexico; July 27, 2009- The Mexico
Tourism Board presented Mexican Orchestra Conductor, Alondra de la Parra, an
award in acknowledgement and recognition of her role as Cultural Ambassador for
Mexico’s
Tourism.
Mexico Tourism Board Deputy Director in Los Angeles, Luisa Cadaval, along with the Consul General
of Mexico in San Francisco, Carlos Felix Corona,
presented the award to Alondra during a private reception on Sunday July 19,
after her concert performance at the Lincoln Theater for the Festival del Sole
in NapaValley.
Having earned a place as one of the most
promising conductors on the international conducting scene today, Alondra has
the significant role of directing Mexico’s rich culture, divine
beauty and essence through her work in music since being named Cultural
Ambassador of Mexico’s tourism by the Mexico Tourism Board.
Alondra de la Parra and the Philharmonic
Orchestra of the Americas’ presented additional performances at the
Fourth Annual Festival del Sole in Napa Valley on Tuesday July 21 and Wednesday
July 22 at Castello di Amorosa with violinist Nikolaj Znaider, followed by dinner
in the caves at Rudd Vineyards & Winery.
About Alondra de la Parra
In 2004, at the age of only 23, Alondra de la Parra
founded the New York-based Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas with
the mission to promote the work of young soloists and composers of the American
continent. Since its founding, POA has engaged in international tours, produced
recordings, as well as initiating a Young Composers´ Competition and
establishing an Arts and Education Program. During the summer of 2009, POA will
be in residence at Napa Valley´s (CA) Festival del Sole and the Stowe Summer
