Mexico City, Mexico; May 26th, 2009- International superstar Hugh
Jackman spoke with international media today at a press conference held at the
Four Seasons Hotel in Mexico City. Tonight, Jackman will premiere his latest
movie, X Men Origins Wolverine at the National Auditorium in the
country’s capital.
During today’s press conference, the actor
expressed his support of Mexico,
recognizing the country and its people for its resilience and quick actions
towards handling the health scare. He also addressed the discrimination Mexico has been facing and encouraged the
international community to visit and get to know Mexico and its abundance of
beautiful attractions.
“I wanted to come and show my support to the
local businesses and the tourism sector, and to let everyone know, Mexico
is a great place to vacation,” the actor stated. “I’ve
visited Mexico
many times, and its people are incredibly friendly. Mexico is art, culture, architecture,
gastronomy, happiness and history, this is a marvelous blend and one has to be
crazy not to come here.”
Regarding the way the country is doing today after the
health crisis, the actor said “Mexico
is standing; this makes me happy, Mexico is indestructible just like
my character.”
Jackman also discussed his
visit with President Calderon which took place yesterday and stated that
“it was a gratifying experience speaking with a leader of his caliber,
and that he has shared all this with me, with such honesty, filled me with
respect. His solidarity inspired me and as a result I felt very close to his
people,” Jackman said.
