MEXICO’S SCENIC PORTS RECEIVE RECOGNITION AWARDS AT
THE 25TH ANNUAL CRUISE SHIPPING MIAMI
CONVENTION
Miami Beach, FL, March 24TH, 2009
– The Mexico Tourism Board is excited to
announce that Mexico’s
distinctive ports were recipients of various awards from the editorial cruise
industry during the Cruise Shipping Miami Convention in MiamiBeach.,
The Undersecretary of Operations from the Ministry of
Tourism of Mexico,
Alejandro Moreno was the recipient of Porthole Magazine’s Editor in
Chief Award for “Best Family-Oriented Destination.”
“This award is very important for us. It shows the excellence, the quality
and the service that the MexicanPorts and the
destinations offer to our visitors. The port authorities and the destinations
work hard to welcome the cruises with the best they have”, said Teresa
Villarreal Director of the Mexico Tourism Board in Miami.
Acapulco also received three awards from Dream World Cruise Destinations
Magazine including: “The “Best Destination Experience
Award”, “Best Turnaround Destination” and “BestTurnaroundPort of Operations”
Officials from Acapulco
were on hand to receive their awards, “It is a privilege for us to
receive this acknowledgment. Acapulco has been a
classic sun and beach destination in Mexico for a long time and has
evolved and transformed to maintain its appeal remaining a favorite for North
American travelers”, said Jesus Radilla, Director of the Visitors &
Convention Bureau of Acapulco.
During 2008 Mexican ports welcomed
about 3 thousand cruise ships and an estimated 6 million
passengers. Mexico
has an incredible potential for exponential growth; the richness and diversity
of the country plays a key role in the uniqueness of each destination.
