Meet Tequila
Mexico’s
world renowned drink, tequila, is available for you to explore, from its
history to the way it is made, in one of the many tours offered in the state of
Jalisco.
All aboard on the Tequila Express! Begin in Guadalajara and take a ride on this train,
which offers food, margaritas and tequila, to the sound of mariachi music until
you arrive at Hacienda San Jose del Refugio. Here you will witness how tequila
is made and learn about the history of this legendary drink.
Another option is MundoCuervo
(Cuervo World) on the Tequila Route. For only $600 pesos
(approximately $46 dollars), you can take this tour from Guadalajara to the archaeological
site of Guachimontones in Teuchitlan
to admire the majestic blue agave landscape, a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage
Site, and see how the agave is cultivated. Once in MundoCuervo, you will tour the distillery of one of the
world’s best known tequilas, as well as taste their product and visit the
Hacienda Jose Cuervo. For those traveling with
children, there are many activities for them including making agave paper.
