Measures in Various Mexican Indigenous Languages
To disseminate the preventive measures among the country's
indigenous communities, the Mexican Institute of Indigenous Languages (INALI)
produced audios in 20 indigenous languages spoken in various Mexican states, to
announce the actions that the Ministry of Health is taking during the pandemic
alert caused by the Influenza A H1N1 virus.
INALI representatives are coordinating with the Ministry of Health of each
state, as well as community radio stations that serve the indigenous language
speakers. The translations are available in languages such as: Chichimec, Chinanteco, Maya, Mazahua, Mazatec, Mixtec, Tarasco, Zapotec and several Nahuatl variations.
