WHITEWATER RAFTING

 

In Xalapa?s surrounding areas you?ll find river rapids of various classes that are ideal for skill levels ranging from novice to expert.

 

Rio Pescados. Located 39 km (24 mi) southeast of Xalapa, in the town of Jalcomulco. This river has 17 class III and IV rapids, which are optimal for a rafting outing.

 

Rio Filobobos. Located 100 km (62 mi) northwest of Xalapa, in the town of Tlapacoyan. This river has a 25-km (15-mi) run with class II and III rapids. From September to November the river has class IV rapids. Along the route you?ll see the 20-meter (66-foot) El Encanto waterfall, which is formed from the waters of a natural pool that is 25 meters (82 feet) deep.

 

Rio Actopan. Located 40 minutes north of Xalapa. This 10-km (6-mi) river, which is navigable throughout the entire year, has class II and III rapids. You cant rent all the equipment you?ll need in Xalapa.
