In Tuxtla Gutierrez you?ll find numerous
places to enjoy the folklore and joy that characterizes
the inhabitants of Chiapas.
Parque de la Marimba. Located on
Av. Central Poniente and 8a
Calle Poniente Norte
126. Every day, the city?s best marimba musicians play in this park in the late
afternoon. The joyful music will make you want
to dance.
Miguel Alvarez del Toro Regional Zoo. Located
in El Zapotal Ecological Reserve, south of Tuxtla Gutierrez. This area is covered with
medium jungle growth to mimic
the natural habitat of species that
live in the region, including endangered species like the pavon
(a large endemic turkey) and the
resplendent quetzal. The zoo also has special
areas where you can observe nocturnal species.
Open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:00 to 4:00.
Parque Joyyo Mayu. Located on Prolongacion
Libramiento Poniente Norte.
This is one of Tuxtla Gutierrez?s most beautiful
parks. It has lush vegetation and several manmade lakes. Open daily from 8:00 to 6:00
