ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORTS EVENTS

 

In Taxco you can attend important sporting and cultural events with many years of tradition, or you can visit the city?s most notable venues.

 

Feria Nacional de la Plata (National Silver Fair) ? Held in November, this is the city?s most important art and industry fair. It includes cultural events, artistic performances and a silver exposition.

 

Jornadas Alarconianas ? This event, which is held in honor of famed playwright Juan Ruiz de Alarcon, takes place in May and June. It features various theatrical performances throughout the city and its surrounding areas at such places as the Santa Prisca Church and the Cacahuamilpa Caverns.

 

Red Bull Down Taxco ? Held in August, this event is a downhill mountain bike race that runs along 198 meters (653 feet) of cobblestone streets and an additional 1800 meters (5,940 feet) to the lowest point of Cerro Atachi.

 

Teatro Juan Ruiz de Alarcon ? Located on Ex-Convento Street, in the Colonia Centro. This venue mostly stages theatrical performances and occasionally it hosts cultural events.
