If you?re traveling by car, Highway 199 links Palenque to Tuxtla Gutierrez, the state capital, and San Cristobal de las Casas. To arrive at Villahermosa, the capital of Tabasco, you can take the same highway or Highway 186. By train, there?s a new route that connects Palenque to Cordoba, Veracruz, and to Merida, Yucatan. The Pakal-Na train station is just 1.5 km (1 mi) from Palenque. By air, the Palenque airport receives commercial flights from Aerocaribe, as well as charter flights from the cities of Tuxtla Gutierrez, Ocosingo and Comitan de Dominguez. If you want to travel to other destinations in Mexico, you?ll have to fly out of the airports in Tuxtla Gutierrez and San Cristobal de las Casas, which have flights from such carriers as Mexicana, Aviacsa, Aeromar and Aerocaribe.
