The Mayan Riviera is one of the
best-linked destinations in the country. Highway 307 connects the city of Cancun in the north to the
state capital of Quintana Roo, Chetumal,
in the south. Chetumal lies 159
km (98 mi) from the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. To
arrive at many Quintana Roo destinations by boat,
Playa del Carmen, Punto Venados
and Puerto Morelos have docks where cruise liners
offer services to various Caribbean cities. They also have ferry
services to Cozumel Island. As for air travel, the
best place to arrive in the Mayan Riviera is the Cancun International Airport, which is about 45
minutes from Playa del Carmen. Aeromexico, Mexicana, Aerolineas Azteca, Aviacsa and Aerocaribe de Mexico offer domestic flights into Cancun, while America Airlines,
Continental, Northwest and British Airways have international flights from the United States and the rest of the
world.
Cancun International Airport. Located off the Cancun-Tulum Highway, 5
km (3 mi) from the hotel zone and
8 km (5
mi) from the downtown area. It has taxi and bus services to Cancun, the hotel zone and
Playa del Carmen.
Cancun Bus Terminal. Located in the city?s downtown
area on the corner of Av. Uxmal and Av. Tulum. It has taxi and bus services for local
transportation.
