In the Mayan Riviera you?ll find numerous places to do sportfishing where you can catch sailfish, dorado, tuna, barracuda and marlin. In addition, you can visit nearby fishing villages or attend El Torneo de Pesca Internacional de Puerto Aventuras (The Puerto Aventuras International Fishing Tournament), which takes place in May.

 

Reserva de la Biosfera de Sian Ka'an. Boca Paila is a fishing village where you can find everything you?ll need for the sport. In Punta Allen, between the Caribbean coast and Muyil Lagoon, there are several hostels that specialize in sportfishing services.

 

Majahual. Located 145 km (90 mi) northwest of Chetumal on Highway. 307. This quiet fishing village has a group of ecological bungalows that were built with local natural resources. They provide ideal lodging if you?re looking to relax amid the lush vegetation. In this town you can do sportfishing without a care in the world since it offers full services and equipment rentals.

 

Puerto Aventuras. Located 35 km (21 mi) south of Playa del Carmen, is the ideal tourist resort if you want to relax in a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. This is where the most experienced sportfishing enthusiasts come to participate in annual tournaments.
