ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORTS EVENTS

 

Queretaro?s venues offer various artistic and cultural events for all tastes, including concerts, fairs, expos, cockfights and bull runs, among others.

 

Jolgorio de Queretaro ? Held in March, this is one of the city?s most popular cultural events. It draws international acts offering theatrical performances, dance and live music in the Historic Center?s public squares.

 

Aranarte ? During this event, numerous artists display frog figures made of various materials and with diverse techniques. The exhibit takes place in Queretaro?s Historic Center.

 

Feria Internacional de Queretaro ? This international fair showcases livestock from all over the world. It also offers various events, cockfights and rides.

 

Feria del Queso y Vino ? This fair has many years of tradition in Tequisquiapan. It takes place in May and June and draws diverse associations looking to promote cheese and wine products. The fair has a tasting area and a regional wine competition. It also offers workshops and other activities for children. Admission is free.

 

Plaza de Toros Santa Maria ? Located on the corner of Av. Constituyentes and 5 de Febrero. At this arena you can see bullfights from October to December. It also hosts an annual event for the New Year?s celebration.

 

Estadio Corregidora ? Located southeast of the city, on the corner of Av. 5 de Febrero and Bernardo Quintana. This stadium stages large concerts. It holds 41,000 spectators and has 6,700 parking spaces.

 

Auditorio Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez ? Located on the corner of Av. Constituyentes and Sierra de Zimapan, in the Villas del Sol neighborhood. This important venue holds 4,500 spectators. It serves as a facility for concerts, expos and special events.

 

Teatro de la Republica ? Located on the corner of Juarez and Angela Peralta. An important event in Mexican history took place here: the signing of the Constitution. It has a neoclassical façade. Open daily from 9:00 to 5:00.

 

Centro de Exposiciones de Queretaro ? Located at Km 5 on Prolongacion Constituyentes. Known as the Ecocentro Expositor, this modern expo center covers an area of 70 hectares (173 acres) and has a capacity of 226 stands.  It also has an area for livestock expositions, which measures 5,400 sq. meters, and a parking lot that accommodates 9,500 vehicles.
