BEACHES
The beaches
in Veracruz
and its environs have conserved the natural beauty of the Gulf
of Mexico and they offer excellent services
so that you can fully enjoy your stay.
Port of Veracruz. Located along the
city?s shoreline. Off the coast you?ll find one of Mexico?s most
important coral reef systems. The port has a wide variety of beaches along
Blvd. Manuel Avila Camacho, including Villa
del Mar, Playon de Hornos, Costa de Oro and Mocambo. At
some of these beaches you?ll see large military ships off the coast as you
relax and enjoy the sun.
Boca del Rio. Located just 15 minutes away from
the city of Veracruz on Highway 150. Boca del Rio has great beaches to relax
and do various aquatic sports. While you?re here, we recommend that you try the
delicious seafood dishes. This area has top-notch hotels, a convention center,
stores and exclusive restaurants.
Mocambo. Located 8 km (5 mi) south of the
port of Veracruz. This is one of the most visited beaches and is ideal for
relaxing or enjoying various water sports.
Anton Lizardo. Located 23
km (14 mi) south of Veracruz, near Boca del Rio. This beautiful beach with fine
sand and calm waters makes up part of the Sistema Arrecifal Veracruzano (Veracruz
Coral Reef System). These beaches are perfect for doing a wide variety of
aquatic sports, especially for scuba diving at the incredible coral reefs.
Isla de Sacrificios.
Located off the coast of Veracruz port. The island gets its name (Island of
Sacrifices) from the sacrifices that were once carried out by its original
inhabitants. The waters here make up part of the Sistema
Arrecifal Veracruzano
National Marine Park, where you can go scuba diving and kayaking.
Playa Chachalacas.
Located 50 km (31 mi) north of Veracruz, this long beach of fine sand and calm waters
is ideal for doing all kinds of aquatic sports. Here you can take out an
all-terrain vehicle on the big sand dunes.
