This important beach destination hosts two world-renowned sporting events that have given Riviera Nayarit international fame.

 

Regata Internacional Bahia de Banderas (Banderas Bay International Regatta) ? This sailboat race is held in March and draws participants from all over the world.

 

World Champion Challenger ? This annual event takes place in the city of Bahia de Banderas in October and November. The Asociacion de Clubes de Pesca del Occidente de Mexico organizes the fishing tournament. Participants compete to catch the biggest bonito, tuna, yellow jack, snapper, dorado, roosterfish, sailfish, marlin, wahoo and shark, among other species.

 

Fiesta de Bahia de Banderas ? This event, held in February and March, offers diverse activities such as food fairs, fishing tournaments, sporting competitions, conferences, expos and beauty contests.
