HUNTING

Mazatlan?s environs are ideal for those who like hunting since the surrounding areas form part of key central and Pacific migration routes. We recommend that you book your trip in advance and that you only hunt in permitted areas.

Isla Redo. Located 200 km (124 mi) northwest of Mazatlan, in front of Port Altata, off Highway 15. It is 18 km (11 mi) long and 1.5 km (1 mi) wide. It is mostly lowlands covered in sand and small dunes, which provide great hunting grounds. Here you?ll find attractive species such as the white-winged dove and the blue-winged teal.

La Isla Baradito. Located about 180 km (111 mi) northwest of Mazatlan and 60 km (37 mi) west of Culiacan. It comprises the Bocas del Estero de El Tule and the Altata Bay. This island is shaped like a half moon; it is 16 km (10 mi) long and slightly more than 800 meters (less than 1 mi) wide. It is divided by a lagoon and it has low sand dunes that are nesting grounds of the blue-winged teal, the solitary sandpiper and the black-bellied whistling duck.

Isla San Juan. Located 160 km (100 mi) from Mazatlan at Ensenada de El Pabellon, where the Culiacan River empties. This island has little surface area, however you can find species such as the blue-winged teal, the white-winged dove and the mourning dove.
