BIOGRAPHY
MONICA PATIÑO
Her career began with professional practices in La
Hacienda de los
Morales. Theoretical knowledge came later on, as student in L´École de Cuisine de la Varenne,
in Paris.
In 1978,
she opens what was her first restaurant "La Taberna
del León", located in Valle de Bravo, state of Mexico. There, she developed a
concept and implemented menus and recipes.
She also
teaches courses of international cuisine in Valle de Bravo.
She
participated in the opening of La Galvia restaurant, where she
designed the concept and the menu; during the following years, she continued as
chef and cuisine counselor.
Eleven
years ago, together with the opening of Plaza
Loreto, Mónica Patiño
she settled in the old house located in the middle of the ancient factory of Loreto and Peña Pobre, naming the place with the same
name of her first restaurant, 15 years before, in Valle de Bravo; La Taberna del León.
Years
later, she opened Bolívar 12, with a concept based in recipes of Mexican cuisine
with Cuban influence.
She has
participated in different gastronomic festivals in Portugal
and England, representing Mexico.
During
the last years, Mónica Patiño
has been devoted to consolidate the cuisine of La Taberna del
León.
In June
2000, she opens "MP Café + Bistro".
The concept comes from the need to put together,
in one plate, the different Oriental tendencies, through ingredients; always
respecting the origin and authenticity of them.
The menu offers a meticulous selection of dishes
from several countries, original recipes and personal creations.
