In Ensenada?s environs you can visit
two important national parks with incredible natural scenery.
Constitucion de
1857 National Park. Take Highway 3 about 72
km (44 mi) east of Ensenada, then follow a dirt road
turnoff. In this 5000-hectare (12,350-acre) park you?ll find pine and oak
forests where you can mountain biking and hiking.
Sierra de
San Pedro Martir National Park. Take the Transpeninsular Highway 1
236 km (146 mi) southwest of Ensenada, then follow the turnoff
to San Telmo de Abajo. At
this park you can visit the National Astronomy Observatory, which affords a
spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. At this park, which
covers 63000 hectares (155,610 acres), you can do diverse outdoor
activities, such as horseback riding, hiking and rappelling down the Pico del Diablo.
