MOUNTAIN CLIMBING

 

In Ensenada?s surrounding areas you?ll find various areas where you can go mountain climbing.

 

Sierra de San Pedro Martir National Park. Take the Transpeninsular Highway 1 236 km (146 mi) southwest of Ensenada, then follow the turnoff to San Telmo de Abajo. At this park you can visit the National Astronomy Observatory, which affords a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez. This park has a mountain called El Pico del Diablo, which is 3100 meters (10,230 feet) high and offers excellent conditions for rock and mountain climbing.

 

Cañon de la Parra. Located 120 km (74 mi) southeast of Ensenada, off Highway 3. At this place you can go mountain climbing on the Cerro de la Parra, which is 1800 meters (5,940 feet) high.
