WHERE TO GO AND WHAT TO DO?

Hermosillo

After a two hour flight from the Distrito Federal, you will arrive at this semi-desert land, whose average temperature is 25°C (77°F). Secure a room in a hotel on Boulevard Hidalgo, the tourist section known for its excellence. Put on comfortable shoes and go out to tour the historical center where you can admire architectural monuments like: the Cathedral of the Asunción (Assumption), constructed in Neogothic style, and the Palacio de Gobierno, in which you can see its Neoclassic style façade, with its semicircular court and clock tower. After this tour, go out of the city to visit the Sierra de Mazatlán, found 88 km (55 mi) east of Hermosillo. Rent a mountain bike and complete the cyclist circuit that will take you to the towns of Rancho Viejo and Santa Rosalía. Then go towards San Carlos, 133 km (83 mi) south of Hermosillo, where you will encounter Cerro Tetakawi, popularly known by the name of "Tetas de Cabra" ("Goat?s Breasts"), where you can participate in mountaineering and other mountain sports and will allow you to enjoy an excellent view of the Bay of San Carlos. From this area make your way to the Bay of Kino, 107 km (66 mi) west of Hermosillo, where you will find the Kino Nuevo beach. It is equipped with a grand tourist infrastructure ideal for doing all types of aquatic sports like swimming, diving, and sport fishing. Or go shooting in the Rancho Lobos, located 170 km (106 mi) northeast of Hermosillo, where they offer the option of hunting species like white-tailed deer, wild lamb or wild boar. At the end of the day, rest and take in a tasty sautéed fish, prepared on the grill or filet of manta ray, accompanied with wheat tortillas. Return to the hotel, take a shower, and go out to tour the Corredor Escénico (Scenic Area), where you will hear music from regional bands, while drinking a bottle of delicious beer.
