Near Cuernavaca there
are several areas where you can observe plant and animal species amid oak
and fir forests.
You?ll also see waterfalls, springs and beautiful
hills.
Corredor Biologico
Ajusco-Chichinautzin ? A good
place to enter this 65722-hectare (162,333-acre) national park is at Km 38,
north of Cuernavaca.
On these grounds you can visit the parks
of Lagunas de Zempoala and Tepozteco. You also can explore fir, pine and oak forests
that are home to a wide variety
of flora and fauna, including the volcano
rabbit and white-tailed deer.
Lagunas de Zempoala
National Park ? Located 25 km (15 mi) northwest
of Cuernavaca,
off Highway 95. This 4669-hectare (11,523-acre) park has seven lagoons and pine
and fir forests. Here you can observe more than
190 mushroom species and a wide array
of fauna, such as squirrels, skunks, reptiles, birds, bats and
white-tailed deer.
Tepozteco National Park
? Located 21 km
(13 mi)
northeast of Cuernavaca,
off the Ocotepec-Tepoztlan
Highway. This 24000-hectare
(59,280-acre) park has five
climates ranging from semi-cold to hot, which allows
widely diverse plant and animal species to flourish
in the region.
