The biggest island in Mexico, Cozumel, is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in the country. There are beaches and natural attractions which are ideal for water sports. There are also archeological zones and other sources of entertainment for visitors with varied interests.

The island of Cozumel, located in the Mexican Caribbean about 19km from the coast of Quintana Roo, is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Mexico. There is an airport and a dock where up to 600 cruisers arrive each year.

This island, which is 47km long and 15km wide, is the biggest one of all the habited islands in Mexico. Its most important natural attractions are the Palancar and Chankanaab reefs which belong to the Grand Mayan Reef and can easily be explored by diving enthusiasts.

In the island there are also three important archeological zones: San Gervasio, el Castillo Real (the biggest archeological site in the island) and el Cedral. San Miguel de Cozumel, is the island?s only city. Cozumel hosts a range of tourist services, hotels and restaurants. There are handicraft shops, jewelry stores and three museums that are dedicated to the island?s history, nature, music and diving.
