world and more than 100 exhibition halls which host important collections of
art, history and archeology amongst others.
Mexico City is one of the richest cities in the world in terms of
the number of museums. There are over a hundred museums, galleries and cultural

the best archaeological and ethnographical collections in the whole country,
and the National Museum of History in the Chapultepec Castle, that shelters the original furniture of emperor
Maximilian of Habsburg. Amongst the art museums, the most famous ones are the
National Museum of Art, which exhibits works by Mexican artists spanning the
colonial era and the present day, and the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo Casa Estudio Museum, which hold some works by these two important Mexican
contemporary artists. Finally, amongst other objects in the Museum of Mexico City, there are various documents, city maps and plans
that portray the city?s historical development. Other important museums are the
Museum of San
Carlos, The Fraz
Mayer Museum, the Museum of Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts), the Templo Mayor Museum and the Casa de Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as
