OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

 

In Tepoztlan and its surrounding areas you?ll find various spots where you can go rappelling, climbing and canyoneering. You can rent all the necessary equipment at the sites in order to enjoy an exciting outdoor adventure.

 

Amatlan de Quetzalcoatl ? Located 5 km (3 mi) east of Tepoztlan, off the state highway. At this place you?ll discover a zone of springs and waterfalls that is perfect for climbing and rappelling throughout the year. At the site you can hire trained guides, rent any equipment you might need and purchase health insurance to be used in the event of an accident.

 

Parque Nacional El Tepozteco (Tepozteco National Park) ? Located in Tepoztlan, 21 km (13 mi) northeast of Cuernavaca. In this 24,000-hectare (59,280-acre) protected area you?ll find the Cerro del Tepozteco, where you can do various sporting and cultural activities. Here you can go rappelling down a 45-meter (148-foot) cliff; the descent varies in height depending on which route you choose.
