MUSEUMS
In Xalapa
you?ll find several museums that exhibit some of the best collections of
pre-Hispanic art from the Gulf
Coast region. The city
also has a museum where you can learn about the region?s plant and animal
species.
Museo de Antropologia
de Xalapa (Xalapa Anthropology Museum). Located
on Av. Xalapa. This magnificent museum has six
showrooms and 18 galleries that exhibit important pre-Hispanic pieces of the Olmec, Totonac and Huastec cultures. The museum?s 2,500 objects are on display
in chronological order. Open Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 4:00 and
Sundays from 9:00 to 5:00.
Mueso de la Fauna (Fauna Museum). Located in the Macuiltepetl Ecological Park. For eight years this
museum has offered a broad overview of the natural habitats in the state of Veracruz.
You?ll learn about the animal species that inhabit the region and wildlife
conservation efforts being made to aid their survival. Open Tuesday through
Friday from 11:00 to 5:00.
Museo Hacienda El Lencero. Located 12 km (7 mi) south of downtown Xalapa. This hacienda of various architectural
styles offers tours through it old facilities, which still has its original
colonial features intact. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 5:00.
