TIJUANA

Tijuana, a prosperous city on Mexico?s northern border, lies on the northwestern end of the Baja California Peninsula, 189 km (117 mi) west of Mexicali and 29 km (18 mi) south of San Diego, California. The climate is hot, with an average temperature of 21º C (70º F).

This modern city, known as an important center for art, history and culture, hosts numerous artistic and culinary festivals, such as the Muestra Internacional de Danza (International Dance Festival), which draws important figures in dance and music.

In the city?s environs you?ll find nature areas like the Laguna Salada and the Cañon de Guadalupe, which offer great places for camping. If you like sports, you can enjoy Tijuana?s exclusive golf courses, such as the Real del Mar Golf Resort. For a day at the track, hit the Agua Caliente Hipodromo and Galgodromo, where you can bet on horse and greyhound races. If it?s rest and relaxation you?re after, nothing beats a visit to one of the city?s excellent spas.

For a night out, Tijuana offers countless discos, bars and restaurants. As for dining, you can delight in exotic dishes like langosta Puerto Nuevo (Puerto Nuevo lobster), accompanied with a glass of fine wine from the Valle de Guadalupe region.
