Veracruz
has one of the most important coral reef systems in Mexico
at Parque Marino Nacional,
an area that covers 52,238 hectares (129,027 acres). This zone is ideal for
scuba diving and snorkeling.
Anton Lizardo. Located 23 km (14 mi) south of Veracruz, near Boca del Rio.
This beautiful beach with fine sand and calm waters makes up part of the Sistema Arrecifal Veracruzano (Veracruz Coral Reef System). Among its most
important reefs are: Chopas, Cabezo,
Santiaguillo, Anegada de Afuera, Anegadilla and En Medio. These are excellent spots for scuba diving, as you
can see the remains of sunken ships.
Isla de Sacrificios.
Located off the coast of Veracruz port. The island gets its name (Island of
Sacrifices) from the sacrifices that were once carried out by its original
inhabitants. Surrounded by some of the most beautiful coral banks in the world,
this island is ideal for scuba diving and snorkeling.
Port of Veracruz. Located along the city?s
shoreline. Off the coast you?ll find one of Mexico?s most important coral reef
systems. Declared a national marine park thanks to its largely diverse coral
reefs, at this place you can go scuba diving and snorkeling while admiring the
beautiful marine life that inhabits its six reefs.
