ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORTS EVENTS

 

In Tampico you can attend several sporting events and visit one of the region?s best live-entertainment venues.

 

Competencia Internacional de Motonautica (International Speedboat Competition) ? This event, which is held in October at the Laguna del Carpintero, draws professional speedboat pilots from Mexico and abroad. The competitors race along challenging courses that are designed for high-speed excitement.

 

Fishing Tournaments ? These events, which are organized by the Corona Regatta Club, take place throughout the year at Playa Miramar. Among the most important competitions are the Torneo de Robalo (The Bass Tournament), which is held in April; the Torneo Internacional de Sabalo (International Shad Tournament), in August; the Torneo de Pesca Playero (Beach Fishing Tournament), in October; and the Torneo de Pesca Convivencia Familiar (Family Fishing Tournament), in November.

 

Espacio Cultural Metropolitano (METRO) ? Located on Blvd. Adolfo Lopez Mateos, in the Obrera neighborhood. This is one of the port?s best live-entertainment venues. It consists of the Teatro Metropolitano (Metropolitano Theater) and Teatro Experimental (Experimental Theater), in which you can see theatrical performances, live music and dance shows. The cultural center also hosts festivals, conferences and government events.
