ENTERTAINMENT AND SPORTS EVENTS

In Tijuana you can see world-class artistic and sporting events. Among the most important are:

Muestra Internacional de Danza (International Dance Festival). Held in the month of April, this festival draws some of the world?s best dancers and it creates opportunities for distinguished artists to gain wider exposure.

Festival de Opera en la Calle (Street Opera Festival). This newly created event takes place in July at the Opera de Tijuana and El Café de la Opera. Sponsored by institutions with many years of cultural tradition, the objective is to present new talent alongside world famous opera figures.

Toreo de Tijuana. Located at 221 Av. Santa Maria, in the Gabilondo Tijuana neighborhood. This bullfight area has many years of tradition presenting up-and-coming and world famous matadors, such as Eloy Cavazos.

Plaza de Toros Monumental Las Playas de Tijuana. Located at 1 Av. Pacifico. This arena by the sea offers bullfights and concerts.

Hipodromo and Galgodromo Agua Caliente (Horse and Greyhound Racing). Located at 12027 Blvd. Agua Caliente, in the Hipodromo neighborhood. This is one of Mexico oldest and most important racetracks. Currently, it offers mostly greyhound racing.

Sala de Espectaculos. Located in the Centro Cultural Tijuana, at the corner of Av. Paseo de los Heroes and Av. Francisco Javier Mina, in the Zona Urbana Rio. This is Tijuana?s largest theater; it holds up to 1,000 spectators. It has hosted excellent national and international concerts and stages monthly events, such as the Baja California Orchestra and the International Philharmonic of the Californias. It also hosts an opera season, international dance festivals, guitar festivals and various classical music concerts, among other events. Open daily from 9:00 to 9:00.
