Near Taxco you can visit an archaeological zone where you?ll see structures that were built of fine marble stones.

 

Ixcateopan de Cuauhtemoc ? Located 36 km (22 mi) west of Taxco. This is a pre-Hispanic settlement that served as religious ceremonial grounds, as well as a commercial and administrative center. Among the most notable sights are a structure with various rooms and a rotund edifice, both of which were built of marble and limestone and coated with stucco and red paint. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 5:00.
