In Saltillo?s environs you?ll find areas surrounded with abundant vegetation that invite you to do all kinds of outdoor recreational activities, including snow skiing.

 

Sierra de Arteaga National Park ? Located 54 km (33 mi) east of Saltillo, off the state highway. At this place you?ll find canyons like Los Lirios where you can go hiking through forest areas or rock climbing up imposing cliffs.

 

Cañon de San Lorenzo (San Lorenzo Canyon) ? Located 5 km (3 mi) south of Saltillo, off Highway 54. In this protected forest zone you can go hiking along trails lined with pine trees and rappelling down 2000-meter (6,600-feet) cliffs. The outing takes about four to seven hours.

 

Bosques de Monterreal ? Located in the Sierra de Arteaga National Park, 54 km (33 mi) east of Saltillo, off the state highway. This is one of the best tourist and sporting resorts in the region. Throughout the year you can go skiing on slopes with manmade snow while enjoying the excellent weather and geographical conditions of the Arteaga Sierra. Before hitting the slopes, you can take ski lessons to prepare yourself for runs that are up to 230 meters (759 feet) high. Here you can rent all the necessary ski equipment.
