In Patzcuaro?s environs you?ll find nature areas with ideal terrain for mountain biking. If you?re looking for something more adventurous, you can experience the thrill of hang gliding as you soar high above the city.

Lake Patzcuaro. Located 5 km (3 mi) north of Patzcuaro. This lake covers an area of 130 sq. kilometers and it is fed by underground springs. The lake has nine islands, including Janitzio, Jaracuaro, Pacanda, Tecuena, Urandenes, Yunuen and Copujo.  In the lake?s surrounding areas you can go mountain bike riding along designated trails that cut through agricultural fields and mountainous terrain.

Cerro del Estribo. Located 3 km (2 mi) west of Patzcuaro, off Highway 14. At this lookout point you?ll find a takeoff and landing area for hang gliding and paragliding. Both activities afford a gorgeous view of the lake below.
