In downtown Playa del Carmen there are many stores selling all kinds of crafts made from wood and conch shells. You?ll also find straw sombreros and imitation pre-Hispanic figurines. On Quinta Avenida, Playa del Carmen?s most happening spot, you?ll come across various boutiques and galleries offering huipiles (blouses with handmade trim), earrings, jewelry, wood sculptures and many other items made by local artisans.
