The ecological reserves in Pachuca?s environs are ideal for hiking, rappelling and rock climbing up cliffs that are 23 to 120 meters (76 to 396 feet) high. In Pachuca you can hire tour guides and rent any equipment you might need.

 

Parque EcoAlberto ? Located 85 km (53 mi) northwest of Pachuca and 12 km (7 mi) from the town of Ixmiquilpan, off the Ixmiquilpan-Chilcuatla Highway. This park has various routes that are ideal for rappelling, including a 30-meter (100-foot) cliff of intermediate difficulty level.

 

El Chico National Park ? Located 24 km (15 mi) north of Pachuca, south of the town of Mineral del Chico. Here you?ll find 20- to 23-meter (65- to 76-foot) cliffs for rappelling and rock climbing. You can hire guides and rent equipment in Pachuca.

 

Huasca de Ocampo ? Located 29 km (18 mi) northeast of Pachuca, off Highway 105. This is a magical town surrounded by forests. The ex-mining haciendas of San Miguel Regla and Santa Maria Regla, which have been converted into magnificent hotels, serve as a base to go hiking among incredible natural scenery, such as the basaltic rock formations.
