HISTORICAL
ARCHITECTURE
La Paz has very unique architecture that illustrates an interesting blend of styles
and textures. The edifices leave
visitors pleasantly surprised.
Biblioteca de Las
Californias ? Located on 5 de Mayo Street. This library
is the city?s
main cultural center. It houses an
extensive collection of books and
documents that focus on the
history of Baja California.
Here you also can see diverse
cultural and artistic events. Open Monday
through Friday from 9:00 to 4:00.
Catedral de Nuestra
Señora de La Paz ? Located
on the corner of 5 de Mayo and Aquiles Serdan. This stone
religious edifice was built using
a Latin cross plan and is adorned with
neoclassical details. Inside the Cathedral
you?ll see a striking image of Our Lady of
the Pillar and a collection of 18th-century paintings. Open daily from
8:00 to 8:00.
Palacio Municipal ? Located
on Belisario Dominguez Street. With a style that is
very difficult to define, this building stands out for its combination
of textures and odd architectural
elements. The most notable features are the façade and
the imposing tower. Open daily
